Skin-To-Skin
My absolute FAVORITE things about giving birth were the last push, the first hold, and snuggling skin-to-skin.
There is just SOMETHING about that final push! When you get to push one more time, after you've worked so hard to get that head out, and the rest of the baby's body just slides right out. I always enjoyed feeling the curves and bones of the baby's body going through my cervix followed by instant relief. It doesn't seem like it should be so magical, but it really IS! Then, they bring the baby right up for you to hold. It's SO warm, so much warmer than you expect, fresh out of the oven! Later, when things have settled down, you get to start feeding that sweet new baby. The best thing ever was unwrapping my baby and opening my robe so we could connect better, skin-to-skin.
