A Child Is Born

I saved this piece for Christmas day, because it's my absolute favorite one, and it's so fitting!

I can't even imagine what it must have been like to give birth in a stable. I suppose, like all babies do, He was coming whether she was ready or not! How prepared was she to be a mom? Was she scared? Did she think, "Hmm, so this is what it feels like to nurse!" Did she or Jospeh know how to deal with the afterbirth and the bleeding? I wonder if women were more familiar with all of those things back then. Did she assist in delivering babies for other female relatives?  I'm super curious.

It was a most humble beginning for a King. Why didn't God just make it easier? He could have ensured that His Son was born in a palace!  He could've made the birth painless!  But where is the lesson in that?  Where is the growth?  How could He be a perfect example to ALL of us if He had everything handed to Him on a golden platter?  We wouldn't be able to relate.  He was born to overcome sin and pain and death, and His life symbolizes this from day one.

I am so grateful for Mary, Jospeh, and Jesus's example.  Whatever your faith or belief is in, may we choose love and kindness...always.  No matter how hard life gets, we can always choose to LOVE.

8x8 Mixed Media on wood panel. Ready to hang in black floater frame!
