Waiting Room
I am the 3rd oldest child of 16 children (some halves, no step)!! Therefore, I am no stranger to babies. When I "grew up" (Ha!), and became a mother, I remember going into this very natural space in my mind and body that defiantly chose to nurse in many places without covering up. It was like I was absorbing and emitting this confident synergy with my baby.
I specifically remember the first time I chose to feed my baby in a public place without a cover. He was HUNGRY, I was waiting in line at the Fred Meyer Pharmacy, which was right next the entrance of the entire store, by the way! I hadn't been prepared. I didn't have anything to cover-up with and I didn't have a bottle. I decided to lose my place in line and sit on the closest chair next to the pharmacy and whipped it out. People noticed, but I was magically so totally okay, that I just didn't mind at all. No one was disrespectful or anything, they just noticed and moved on! Totally fine! It was beautiful, it was natural, and I didn't want to care about what anybody else thought, so I chose not to.
8x8 mixed media on canvas. Ready to hang in black floater frame!
